You can get the 96 Overall Milestone Max Scherzer card entirely for free by beating his brand-new Milestone Showdown program in Diamond Dynasty .

MLB 26 Max Scherzer, 96 Milestone

Steps to Unlock the Card

  • Open Diamond Dynasty: Head over to the main game modes from the dashboard.
  • Select Showdown: Find the newly released Max Scherzer Milestone Showdown menu block.
  • Draft Your Squad: Draft a team of hitters designed to go up against elite pitching, focusing on high Contact and Power against right-handed pitchers.
  • Beat the Boss: Play through the mini-challenges and defeat the final boss version of "Mad Max" to earn enough program progress to unlock his Red Diamond item.

Alternative Method

If you do not want to play through the Showdown mode, you can purchase the card directly off the Community Marketplace using MLB 26 Stubs.

Tips On How To Easily Beat Max Scherzer Milestone Showdown Boss

To beat the Max Scherzer Milestone Showdown easily, you need to load your lineup with left-handed batters and sit on his fastball. Because this is a final boss battle, you do not need to worry about fielding or pitching at all.

1. The Draft: Stack Left-Handed Hitters

Scherzer's card has much lower attributes against lefties than righties (81 H/9 and 83 K/9 versus 99/98 against righties).

  • Draft Lefties: Pick left-handed or switch-hitting batters with high Contact vs. Right (CON R) and Power vs. Right (POW R).
  • Ignore Defense: Draft players purely for their hitting stats. Put them anywhere in your lineup, even out of position, since you only hit in Showdown.
  • Pick Hitting Perks: Choose perks that boost your exit velocity, like Hero Time or clear for takeoff, to hit more home runs.

2. In-Game Strategy: Wear Him Down

You start the final boss battle with a set number of outs (usually 15 or 20) to score a specific number of runs.

  • Do Not Swing Early: Take pitches until you get two strikes. Showdown bosses have lower stamina than usual. Making Scherzer throw 4 to 5 pitches per batter will drain his energy quickly.
  • Wait for Low Energy: Once Scherzer's energy bar turns yellow or red, his pitch accuracy drops wildly, his pitches slow down, and your inner parallel plate coverage indicator (PCI) gets much larger.
  • Sit on the Fastball: Scherzer throws a 4-seam fastball, slider, circle change, slurve, and cutter. Keep your PCI sitting high in the strike zone and wait for a fastball or a hanging breaking ball.

When drafting your Showdown squad to face Max Scherzer, you want to prioritize Bronze, Silver, and Gold players who possess high Contact vs. Right (CON R) and Power vs. Right (POW R).

The absolute best budget hitters and "budget beasts" to look for in your MLB The Show 26 draft pools include:

Top Budget Hitters to Target

  • Joc Pederson (LF/1B): A pure "Scherzer killer." He has a legendary glitchy swing in MLB The Show and possesses massive power numbers specifically optimized against right-handed pitching.
  • Willi Castro (UTIL): A switch-hitting budget favorite. Because he hits from the left side against righties, his extreme versatility allows you to plug his great contact stats anywhere in your lineup.
  • Charlie Blackmon (OF): He features an incredibly smooth, easy-to-time swing. His high base Contact vs. Right stat makes it easy to expand your PCI and make solid contact against Scherzer's sharp slider.
  • Kyle Schwarber (C/OF): If you pull his lower-tier Gold or Silver versions in the draft, pick him immediately. His high power traits translate to easy home runs when sitting on Scherzer's high fastball.
  • Yordan Alvarez (LF/DH): Even his lower-tier base cards carry elite power against right-handed pitchers. He is perfect to slide into your cleanup spot to drive in runs.

Switch-Hitting "Cheat Codes"

  • Ian Happ (LF/OF): A switch-hitting budget monster with great speed and a very forgiving swing. He will automatically bat left-handed against Scherzer.
  • Elly De La Cruz (SS/3B): His massive strike zone can be tricky, but his extreme power from the left side combined with 99 speed means any ground ball can turn into an infield hit if you miss your pitch.
