The September 25 content update gives Diamond Dynasty players plenty of reasons to jump back into MLB Stubs grinding, with the new 8th Inning XP Path, Weekend Classic 7, a new Cornerstone Program, September Spotlight – Drop 3, and Chase Pack 28 all arriving at once.

The update gives Diamond Dynasty players plenty of reasons to jump back into MLB Stubs grinding, with the new 8th Inning XP Path, Weekend Classic 7, a new Cornerstone Program, September Spotlight – Drop 3, and Chase Pack 28 all arriving at once. The update is built around another wave of 97–99 OVR cards, with several major rewards available through gameplay rather than a single content route.

The 8th Inning XP Path Brings Two 99 OVR Players and New Bosses

The 8th Inning XP Path is the biggest general-purpose addition in the update. Players can earn XP through their preferred game modes and move through the path to collect Packs, Stubs, and featured player rewards.

The first major player rewards are Negro Leagues Series Mule Suttles, a 99 OVR first baseman, and Finest Series Jake Arrieta, a 99 OVR starting pitcher.

The end of the path also features an 8th Inning XP Path Boss Choice Pack. Players can choose one of two 99 OVR bosses:

Mule Suttles – Negro Leagues Series1BFA
Jake Arrieta – Finest SeriesSPCHC
Ken Griffey Jr. – Finest SeriesCFSEA
Roy Campanella – Hall of Fame SeriesCLAD

The boss structure makes the XP Path particularly relevant for players who want to build their roster through normal gameplay. Rather than locking the update around one mode, the path rewards progress from whatever modes you prefer.

Weekend Classic 7 Is Back With Another Competitive Reward Chase

For Diamond Dynasty players who prefer online competition, Weekend Classic 7 is now live in Ranked.

The event uses 1-vs-1 Solo matchups against other players in your league, with opponents determined around Ranked Ratings. Players can make their first six Weekend Classic matchups count before continuing to push for a higher leaderboard position.

The reward pool includes Negro Leagues Series John Donaldson, Milestone Series Cal Raleigh, and additional Packs and Stubs. Players who reach the highest levels of the Weekend Classic leaderboard can also pursue Finest Series Babe Ruth, a 99 OVR left fielder for the Yankees.

That creates a fairly clear split in the update: the XP Path is the accessible progression route, while Weekend Classic is where competitive players can chase one of the most notable rewards.

Andrew McCutchen Gets a New Cornerstone Card

The latest Cornerstone Program adds Cornerstone Series Andrew McCutchen, a 99 OVR center fielder representing Pittsburgh.

McCutchen's program is built around Moments and Missions covering his career. The official announcement highlights his five All-Star selections and four Silver Slugger Awards as part of the career focus behind the program.

The reward is available through the Assorted Programs section, giving players another gameplay-focused route toward a high-end Diamond Dynasty card.

September Spotlight – Drop 3 Adds More 97–99 OVR Cards

The third September Spotlight drop turns recent MLB performances into another group of Topps Now and Spotlight Series cards.

The program itself includes:

· Brandon Lowe — 99 OVR, 2B, PIT

· Rhett Lowder — 97 OVR, SP, CIN

· Pavin Smith — 97 OVR, 1B, AZ

There is also a separate September Spotlight Pack – Drop 3, which expands the player pool with five additional cards:

Andrew AlvarezTopps Now / Spotlight99SPWSH
Cole RagansTopps Now / Spotlight97SPKC
Jackson HollidayTopps Now / Spotlight972BBAL
Mark VientosTopps Now / Spotlight973BNYM

The important distinction is that the program and the pack are separate parts of the drop, so players should check both if they are trying to expand their collection rather than stopping after completing the main program.

Chase Pack 28 Features 99 OVR Larry Walker

Chase Pack 28 puts another major outfielder into the chase pool with Finest Series Larry Walker, a 99 OVR right fielder for Colorado.

The official content details list three ways to obtain the pack:

1. Earn one from the 8th Inning XP Reward Path Wheel

2. Receive one with every purchase of The Show 50-Pack Bundle

3. Find one randomly inside individual The Show Packs

Every Chase Pack 28 guarantees a Diamond player, while Larry Walker is the featured player who can be pulled from the pack.

For players primarily earning content through gameplay, the XP Reward Path is therefore the most direct connection between the new inning content and the Chase Pack system.

Community Home Run Challenge Rewards Are Still Available

The latest update also closes the loop on the MLB The Show 26 Community Home Run Challenge. The community finished with 56,635,577 total home runs, surpassing the Tier 3 threshold of 55 million.

Players can still visit the Show Shop and claim the free Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Reward Packs. Those rewards remain available through October 9, giving players a little extra time to collect them.

Fall Conquest Map Adds Another Offline Grind

The new Fall Map is also available in Conquest. Players can conquer territories, steal fans, and complete map goals to earn XP and Packs, including a Vault Choice Pack.

For players who are not interested in jumping straight into Weekend Classic, this gives the update another useful offline option. It also fits naturally with the 8th Inning XP Path, since players can continue making progression while working through Conquest objectives.

What Players Should Prioritize

There is a lot packed into this update, but the rewards are spread across different playstyles rather than concentrated in one activity.

The 8th Inning XP Path is the natural starting point for most players because it combines XP progression with player cards, Packs, Stubs, and access to a Boss Choice Pack. Weekend Classic 7 is the more specialized option for players comfortable with competitive online play, while the Spotlight and Cornerstone programs provide additional ways to add 97–99 OVR cards.

For players trying to keep up with Diamond Dynasty without spending every session chasing the newest pack, the combination of the XP Path, Conquest, and program rewards gives the update plenty of gameplay-based progression to work through. Players looking to expand their roster or collection can also compare the new rewards with the current market before deciding whether MLB The Show 26 Stubs for sale are worth considering.
