Forza Horizon 6 Co-Op: Ultimate Guide to Racing Together

What is Forza Horizon 6 Co‑Op?

Forza Horizon 6 is built around seamless online co‑op and shared open‑world racing — there's no local split‑screen multiplayer. All co‑op is online with friends and other players across platforms.

  • Co‑op Capacity: Up to 12 players in shared open world activities and multiplayer events.
  • Cross‑Play & Cross‑Progression: Fully supported across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.

This means the game's social focus is on joined sessions, convoys, and multiplayer modes, not couch play.

How Co‑Op Works?

Form a Convoy

The core way to race with friends is by forming a Convoy:

  1. Add Friends: Add players via their Microsoft Gamertag (required even on PS5 or PC).
  2. Invite to Convoy: Use the Online tab in the pause menu → Convoy → Create.
  3. Join Friends: If a friend is already playing, you can join their session via the Xbox Social list.

Once you're in a convoy, you'll share the open world — see and race with each other seamlessly.

Multiplayer & Co‑Op Modes

Forza Horizon 6's multiplayer suite — called Horizon Play — combines classic and new modes you can enjoy together:

Shared Open‑World Activities

Beyond structured modes, FH6 makes the whole world a cooperative playground:

Car Meets

Social spots where you and friends show off builds and meet up without menus or loading screens.

Drag Meets & Time Attack

Instant drag races and time trials that start as soon as you roll onto the strip or circuit — perfect for spontaneous co‑op fun.

LINK Skills

Drive close to convoy members and perform stunts together — you earn shared LINK skills, rewarding coordinated co‑op action.

New Co-Op Mechanics: LINK Skills

The biggest addition to the cooperative experience is the LINK Skills system. Unlike previous games where you simply drove near each other, FH6 actively rewards synchronized driving.

  • Coordinated Stunting: Executing drifts, jumps, or near-misses alongside your convoy members triggers LINK rewards.
  • XP & Accolades: These combined skill chains provide a massive boost to XP, helping you level up your profile and individual car mastery faster than solo play.
  • Visual Cues: The UI now includes proximity indicators to help you maintain the "LINK" distance during high-speed runs.

Campaign & Progression Sharing

For the first time, the campaign is fully co-op supported. You can experience the entire story with up to five other players.

  • The Journal: All progress is tracked in your "Journal," which stays in sync whether you're racing solo or leading a convoy.
  • Wristband Progression: You and your friends can work together to unlock all 7 Wristbands. Note that high-performance hypercars remain locked until your team earns the Purple Wristband.
  • Host-Led Progression: While in a convoy, the leader initiates events, but rewards and "Stamps" (the new discovery collectible) are granted to all participants.

Co-Op Championships & Credits

If you're looking to build your car collection quickly, Co-Op Championships are the most efficient method.

  • Team Synergy: These are team-based races where your group competes against a field of Drivatars. You gain extra credit bonuses based on the total team performance rather than just your individual finish.
  • Customizable Difficulty: Difficulty settings can be adjusted for the whole team. Higher difficulty tiers significantly multiply the credit payout, making it a "high-risk, high-reward" cooperative grind.

Social Hubs: Car Meets & Tokyo Life

Forza Horizon 6 reintroduces and expands on Car Meets as a dedicated multiplayer space.

  • Legendary Locations: You can meet other players at the Daikoku Parking Area in Tokyo or the Okuibuki Parking Lot in the mountains.
  • Festival Playlist Live: Temporary "Live Meets" will appear on the map, allowing solo players to quickly find a convoy for specific weekly challenges.
  • Customizable Garages: When visiting a friend's house (like the suburb-based Tokyo City House), you can now view their fully decorated, customizable garage and car collection in a walk-around mode.
