How to use Alloy Currency Items?

  • Right click an Alloy item then left click a Rare item to apply it.

When you use an Alloy on a Rare (yellow) item, it will randomly delete one existing property and swap it for a guaranteed special modifier. These powerful new stats cannot be gained through normal crafting methods.

How to use Alloy Currency Items

In this example, use an Expansive Alloy on a Gloves. It randomly delete the "Add 10 to 14 physical damage to attacks", and augments a new mods: "remants can be collected from 42 further away".

Best Strategy for Using Alloys

Because Alloys delete a random mod on your item, do not use them on bad equipment. You should fully finish crafting a high-quality Rare item first. Only use an Alloy if the item is near-perfect and you want to replace its single worst stat with a god-tier exclusive modifier.

Mastering the use of Alloys can truly elevate your endgame gear, but the inherent risk of RNG means you'll need plenty of resources to hit that perfect roll. How to get Alloys in PoE 2 0.5?

To get Alloys in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5, you must unlock them in the campaign and then farm them through Remnant encounters.

Here is exactly how to unlock and farm them step-by-step:

Step 1: Unlock Alloys in the Campaign

You cannot find Alloys right away. You must first unlock them through a specific quest line in Act 2:

  1. Play through Act 2 and complete Farrow's Quest.
  2. Search the regions in Act 2 to find and activate special Runestones. These are found in locations like the Keth Emerging Arm, Bone Pits Preserved Witness, and Deshar Warding Hand.
  3. Once you complete these tasks, the game will officially notify you that Alloys are unlocked.

Step 2: Farm Remnant Encounters

Once unlocked, the main way to get Alloys is by interacting with Verisium Remnant encounters.

  • Look for Remnants: These encounters can appear during the campaign, but they are most common in Endgame Atlas Maps.
  • Defeat the Monsters: Activating a Remnant spawns powerful, empowered monsters. Defeating these monsters causes them to drop Verisium metal and various Alloy crafting currencies.

Step 3: Maximize Your Endgame Farming

If you want to gather a large amount of Alloys quickly in the endgame, use these strategies:

  • Use Runeshape Slots: When you find a Remnant, use the maximum number of Runeshape slots you can survive. This empowers the monsters more, which drastically increases the amount of Alloy currency they drop.
  • Run High-Density Maps: Run maps with a high area level and high monster density. Higher-level areas reward you with more slots and better drop rates.
  • Target Specific Maps: Maps like the Moor of Fallen Skies act as massive Verisium Remnant encounters. They allow you to choose from multiple reward options, often including guaranteed Alloys.
  • Hunt Essences: Certain specific variants, like the Adaptive Alloy, can also drop from monsters imprisoned by powerful Essences found in the world.
