As of now, Aion 2 requires a VPN to be played outside of Taiwan and Korea due to strict region locks and IP blocks. While early access allowed a few exceptions, most players need to use a VPN to access the game.
VPN Requirement
Due to high bot activity and region locking, a VPN is currently necessary to bypass IP blocks, especially for players outside the official launch regions like Taiwan and Korea. The game developers have put these restrictions in place to prevent issues like cheating and botting. As a result, players in regions such as Europe, North America, and other parts of Asia (outside of Korea and Taiwan) face barriers when trying to connect to the servers. Even if you can technically access the game, you may be met with an IP block preventing you from playing.
Best VPN Options
To connect to the game's servers in Taiwan or Korea, many players rely on VPN services like ExitLag or SoftEther. These services allow players to mask their IP address and appear as if they are connecting from Taiwan or Korea, bypassing the region locks. ExitLag, in particular, is widely recommended by gamers for its stability and ease of use, especially for games that rely on a low-latency connection like Aion 2. While some players may find success with free VPN services, using a dedicated gaming VPN is typically the most reliable option for bypassing region blocks.
Alternative Mobile Solution
While most players need a VPN to play Aion 2 on PC, some mobile users have found ways to play the game without one. This typically involves changing the region of your App Store or Play Store to Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Macau. By doing this, you can download the game directly from the local store and avoid region restrictions. However, this method is not always foolproof, and you may still encounter issues based on your location or the store's policies.
If you're looking to dive into Aion 2 but are facing region locks, using a VPN like ExitLag or SoftEther is your best bet to bypass IP blocks and connect to servers in Taiwan or Korea. Once you're in, you'll need Aion 2 Kinah to progress in the game. To get your hands on Aion 2 Kinah quickly, you can visit U4N, a trusted platform to buy Aion 2 Kinah safely and at competitive prices. U4N offers fast delivery and reliable service, ensuring you can get back to enjoying your game without delays.
Registration Issues
If you're trying to play on the Korean servers, there's an additional hurdle: Korean phone number verification. Aion 2's registration process for the Korean servers often requires players to provide a valid, verified Korean phone number. This step can be a major roadblock for players outside of Korea, as getting a Korean phone number for verification may require additional services or contacts within Korea itself. This is something to keep in mind if you're planning to play the Korean version of Aion 2.
Will This VPN Requirement Stay?
The gaming community has been debating whether the region lock and VPN requirement will remain permanent for Aion 2. While it's possible that the restrictions might loosen in the future, especially after full global release, there's no official word yet. Some players, especially those from Asian regions like the Philippines or Taiwan, may have direct access, but players in regions like Europe or North America are almost certainly going to need a VPN to access the game.
