Memory Vault (Atlas) 3.28
In Path of Exile 3.28: Mirage, Memory Vaults are a new reward system tied to the league's endgame overhaul. They act as a specialized loot room granted after completing specific mapping objectives involving the new Astrolabe and Shaped Region systems.

Accessing Memory Vaults
1. Shape a Region: To enter a Memory Vault, you must first interact with a Astrolabe, a new Atlas currency. Example:
| Name | Description | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Nameless Astrolabe | Adds a Shaped Region containing Ritual Altars to a quadrant of the Atlas | Speak to Eagon in your Hideout to right click this item and then left click a Map on your Atlas to apply a Shaped Region. |
| Templar Astrolabe | Adds a Shaped Region to a quadrant of the Atlas | Speak to Eagon in your Hideout to right click this item and then left click a Map on your Atlas to apply a Shaped Region. |
| Fungal Astrolabe | Addes a shaped region containing Blight encounter to a quardrant of the Atlas | Speak to Eagon in your Hideout to right click this item and then left click a Map on your Atlas to apply a Shaped Region. |
| Lightless Astrolabe | Addes a shaped region containing Abysses to a quardrant of the Atlas | Speak to Eagon in your Hideout to right click this item and then left click a Map on your Atlas to apply a Shaped Region. |
| Grasping Astrolabe | Addes a shped region containing Breaches to a quadrant of the Atlas | Speak to Eagon in your Hideout to right click this item and then left click a Map on your Atlas to apply a Shaped Region. |
Shaped Regions: Using an Astrolabe creates a "Shaped Region" on your Atlas, adding extra modifiers and content (like Abysses or Blight) to the maps within it.

With these new Astrolabes, Eagon is able to trace her movement, but using them causes dangerous side effects.
When you use an Astrolabe on a Map on the Atlas, a Shaped Region will manifest itself in that quadrant, affecting many of the Maps within it. There are many different kinds of Astrolabes and they apply different types of Shaped Regions. For example, an Abyssal Region, which causes all the maps to have an additional Abyss. Or a Blighted Region, which adds a Blight Encounter.

2. Clearing the Region.
Successfully complete every influenced map within that shaped region. As you complete maps in a Shaped Region, the area shrinks, and remaining maps gain more "juice" or modifiers.
3. Enter the Vault
Once the region is cleared, talk to Eagon, who will transport you to one of four Memory Vaults.

Treasures Await: Once you have successfully fully completed a Shaped Region, Eagon will be able to bring you along to a Memory Vault. There are four Vaults to explore, with each of them holding powerful rewards for you, and scraps of lost knowledge for Eagon.
Rewards
There are four unique Memory Vaults, each corresponding to one of the four quadrants of the Atlas.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Archon's Vault | The Archon's Vault contains unique items. |
| Zealot's Vault | The Zealot's Vault contains valuable currency items and Level 21/20% quality gems. |
| Machinist's Vault | Other (Gem/Frag/Map)? |
| Scholar's Vault | Other (Gem/Frag/Map)? |

The loot is region-specific, meaning the contents are associated with the specific Atlas quadrant where the maps were completed.
Rewards can include the new Exceptional Support Gems, which are replacing Awakened Gems in this patch.
Targeted Rewards: Each vault offers a specific type of reward, allowing you to choose which region to clear based on the loot you need.
Choice of Power: Upon entering, you can choose from a selection of powerful rewards, including items for the new endgame mechanics.
Shaped Regions
In this expansion, you will continue helping Eagon in his search for Zana. Using Arcane Astrolabes you will uncover Shaped Regions: unstable areas across the Atlas that Eagon must quell to bring him closer to his true target, the Memory Vaults.
Shaped Regions apply a baseline effect to every affected map, and each map within the region has a specific completion condition. Whenever you complete a Map within a Shaped Region, every other map in the Shaped Region gains an additional modifier. This makes your maps more and more intense as you progress, with the relevant mechanic getting juiced to the extreme.
Related 3.28 Changes
- Astrolabes: New items used to juice maps within a select region. Completing these regions is the primary way to trigger a Memory Vault.
- Memory Skills: The previous "Memory Skills" system has been removed in 3.28 to make way for this more direct reward structure.
- Originator's Voidstone: Defeating the new Incarnation bosses for the first time rewards this Voidstone, which enables bosses to drop Astrolabes and Exceptional Support Gems.
