Khatal's Weeping Lapis Amulet

Khatal's Weeping is a unique Lapis Amulet. It is a new PoE Mirage 3.28 unique item.

Requires Level 56

  • +(20—30) to Intelligence
  • +(80—100) to maximum Life
  • Can't use Mana Flasks
  • On non-channelling Attack, set a Life Flask with greater than 50% of maximum Charges remaining to 50%
  • For each Charge removed this way, that Attack gains +2% to Damage over time Multiplier
  • While on Low Life, Life Flasks gain (3—6) Charges every 3 seconds
  • (You are on Low Life if you have 50% of your Maximum Life or less)

Flavour Text: "We fought the Abyssals, too. That's the part they leave out. Khatal was Faridun... and for saving all their lives, the Maraketh made him drink the enemy's blood. He melted from the inside out." - Toryal, of the Afarud

Acquiring a Coin of Restoration by slaying monsters in Mirages allows any unique obtained from the Afarud to be transformed into its Maraketh counterpart. Its glorious original form. Fleshrender, for example, transforms into Skysunder: the original Maraketh blade that radiates with the glowing heat of the desert sun. When you ignite monsters, Skysunder reflects that ignite back to you, which proliferates to nearby enemies in a massive area.

Item Analysis: Khatal's Weeping(AI)

This is a very aggressive, high-risk/high-reward unique for Damage over Time (DoT) builds. It essentially turns your Life Flasks into a secondary fuel source, replacing the utility of Mana Flasks with a high-velocity damage engine.

The Mechanics: Life for Power

The core of this amulet is the "Charge Burn" mechanic. On a standard Divine Life Flask (15/45 charges), if you have 45 charges:

  • An attack would "set" the flask to 22.5 (50%), consuming 22.5 charges.
  • This would grant +45% to Damage over Time Multiplier for that single hit.
  • The Catch: Since it triggers on every non-channeling attack, you will empty your flasks almost instantly if you have high attack speed.

Synergies & Build Potential

  • Bleed Bow / Gladiator: Bleed builds live and die by their DoT Multiplier. Since Bow attacks are non-channeling, a single Snipe or Split Arrow could gain a massive boost.
  • Petrified Blood: This is almost mandatory. By staying on Low Life (below 50% or 55% with mastery), you trigger the "4 Charges every 3 seconds" mod. This provides the sustain needed to keep the "Burn" mechanic active.
  • Pathfinder: The "Nature's Adrenaline" ascendancy (flask charges every 3 seconds) combined with this amulet's passive generation would allow for a very consistent damage uptime.
  • The "Trapper" Strategy: Since traps aren't "Attacks," you could use an attack skill to "prep" a big DoT (like Poison) and use the Life Flask generation to stay safe.

Strategic Considerations

  • The Mana Problem: Since you "Can't use Mana Flasks," builds using this will need to rely heavily on Eldritch Battery, Lifetap Support, or heavy -Mana Cost of Skills on rings.
  • Flask Selection: You would want flasks with the "High Capacity" prefix to maximize the number of charges removed in a single hit, resulting in a higher DoT burst.
