How to Get Stronger in Aion 2: CP & Gear Score Progression Guide

Let's be honest—hitting a progression wall in Aion 2 is a rite of passage we all go through. One day you are breezing through the main story, and the next, you are staring at a boss or a dungeon entrance feeling completely underpowered. If you want to stop hitting those walls and actually start melting mobs, you need to understand how progression works in this game.

It all boils down to two main metrics: Gear Score (GS) and Combat Power (CP).

A lot of newer players make the mistake of focusing purely on Gear Score. While GS is important because it acts as a gatekeeper—locking you out of high-tier dungeons and content if it's too low—your true, raw power comes from your Combat Power. CP is calculated directly from your actual, hard stats. You can cheese your GS a bit by throwing on random high-level items, but you can't fake your CP.

1. Make Dungeons Your Daily Ritual

If you aren't running your daily instances, you are actively falling behind. Dungeons are the absolute lifeblood of character progression in Aion 2. Make sure you are prioritizing these areas every single day:

  • Target Steel Dungeons: Do not skip these. Steel Dungeons drop critical materials needed for permanent character stats, enhancement items, and specialized skill points. The stats you gain here are permanent, meaning they stay with you no matter what gear you swap around later.
  • Maximize Your Daily Dungeon Scores: When you are inside daily dungeons, don't just rush straight to the end boss. Take the time to hunt down and kill the mini-bosses scattered throughout the instance. The higher your overall clear score, the more enchantment stones you get at the end. It's a direct conversion of effort to power.
  • The Endgame Push (Transcendence 1–3): Once you hit the level 45 endgame, your primary goal shifts to farming Transcendence stages 1 through 3. This is where you start filling out your empty slots with Arcana gear, which is your golden ticket to breaking past the 2000+ Gear Score milestone.

2. Smart Gear Upgrading and Resource Management

It's incredibly tempting to dump all your upgrade materials into a cool weapon you just dropped, but that's a massive trap. Efficient progression requires a bit of patience and resource management.

  • Upgrade Evenly Across All Slots: Instead of over-leveling a single piece of gear, distribute your enhancements evenly across all your equipped items. This is the fastest, cheapest, and most efficient way to push your overall Gear Score to the critical 2400 checkpoint.
  • Extract Everything, Sell Nothing (Common Loot): Your inventory will constantly fill up with generic white (common) gear. Do not sell these to NPC vendors for pocket change. Extract them instead. This builds a steady, non-stop supply of Enhancement Stones that you will desperately need later.
  • Leverage Early Blue Gear: Don't be afraid to heavily enhance your starter blue equipment up to at least +10. When you finally transition to superior gold gear, you can safely extract that old blue gear to reclaim most of your invested resources. It's a safe, refundable bridge to the mid-game.
  • Save Your Reroll Materials: Early on, you will get mana and soul stones to reroll accessory bonus stats. Do not use them yet. These rerolls are completely random, and more importantly, they are non-refundable when you extract the item later. Save them for your definitive endgame gear.

At the end of the day, managing your inventory is just as important as upgrading your weapons, and mastering this resource loop will save you a massive headache in the long run. By evenly distributing your enhancements, extracting common gear for enhancement stones, and holding onto your reroll materials until the true endgame, you keep your progression smooth and cost-effective. Best of all, because you can safely reclaim your invested resources from early +10 blue gear when transitioning to gold pieces, you won't have to waste your hard-earned Aion 2 kinah on replacing lost materials. Take your time, stack your resources wisely, and you'll hit that 2400 Gear Score checkpoint without ever going broke.

3. Don't Ignore World Activities and the Abyss

When the main storyline grinds to a halt because of a level or CP requirement, the open world is where you find your hidden power spikes.

  • Clear Out Regional and Side Quests: These aren't just filler content. Side objectives frequently reward you with Daevanion books, free equipment, extra skill levels, and permanent stats that build a solid foundation for your character.
  • Hunt Hidden Collectibles: Keep your eyes peeled while exploring. Gathering hidden world collectibles, like feathers, might seem tedious, but completing these collections unlocks permanent stat milestones on your profile. It's free power just for looking around.
  • Farm Abyss Points (PvP & High-End Gear): Dive into Abyss Command Quests and participate in Artifact Sieges whenever they are active. Hoarding Abyss points allows you to buy high-end PvP gear sets from the Reshanta trade shops, which are invaluable for competitive play.

4. Maximize Your Passive Systems and Skills

Raw gear numbers mean nothing if your passive systems are neglected or if you are playing your class inefficiently.

  • Level Up Your Pets Casually: Don't ignore your companions. Simply farming and leveling up your pets transfers raw defensive and offensive attributes directly to your main character. It's a passive stat stick that grows as you play.
  • Focus Pet Insights Deeply: When investing in pet traits, pick one specific trait and max it out completely before moving to the next. Spreading your choices thinly across multiple traits gives negligible returns, whereas a fully maxed trait offers immediate, noticeable stat bonuses.
  • Refine Your Skill Rotations and Macros: Having a 2400 Gear Score doesn't matter if your skill execution is sloppy. Take the time to set up optimized skill macros to smoothly chain your class buffs and high-multiplier active attacks. Eliminating delays between cooldowns will instantly boost your actual damage output in live combat far more than a minor gear upgrade would.
