Forza Horizon 6 bringing a massive overhaul to multiplayer with its new Horizon Play suite. Set in a sprawling, vibrant Japan map, the game focuses on seamless social interaction, cooperative building, and “no-load” activities that keep you immersed without waiting screens.

Forza Horizon 6 New & Notable Multiplayer Modes

1. New & Notable Multiplayer Modes

1.1 Touge Showdown

This Touge Showdown mode is pure adrenaline for fans of Japanese mountain racing. You'll face off in tight 1v1 battles along narrow, twisting uphill and downhill passes. Precision, timing, and knowing the turns are everything here. Every drift, every brake, every apex matters.

1.2 Spec Racing

Finally, Spec Racing is a mode where skill trumps gear. All players are locked into the same car and setup, so there's no “pay-to-win” tuning advantage. It's pure racing, head-to-head. Expect intense, nail-biting finishes and tight leaderboards.

1.3 Hide & Seek

Hide & Seek: One player hides while five seekers hunt them across a designated zone. It's now formalized with objectives, timers, and scoring, making the chaotic fun of the community favorite an official multiplayer mode. Stealth, speed, and smart use of the environment are key.

1.4 Horizon Collab

Horizon Collab: The biggest creative leap yet. You can now build tracks, stunts, and event layouts in real-time with up to 12 friends. It's like EventLab on steroids: everyone can contribute simultaneously, see updates instantly, and test builds without leaving the open world.

2. Returning Classics

2.1 The Eliminator

The Eliminator: Battle royale returns with a twist: the new Japan map adds dense forests, winding roads, and urban sprawl for tense, high-stakes eliminations. Every choice—route, car, and weapon—counts in the fight to be the last driver standing.

2.2 Horizon Drift

Horizon Drift: Drift fans rejoice. Championship-style drifting returns, scoring your precision and style across multiple zones. Perfecting long, controlled slides and chaining combos will separate the amateurs from the pros.

2.3 Classic Racing & Co-op

The main festival campaign is fully co-op again. You and friends can tackle races, challenges, and story missions together, earning progression while staying in the shared world. It's a festival experience made for squads.

3. Core Multiplayer Modes & Activities

3.1 Horizon Play Suite

This is your hub for everything multiplayer. From returning favorites like The Eliminator and Hide & Seek, to new competitive arenas, Horizon Play is designed for quick access and seamless interaction.

3.2 Spec Racing Championships

A structured version of Spec Racing, perfect for leaderboard hunters. Everyone is on equal footing, and the competition focuses entirely on skill. Expect tight grids, strategic drafting, and cutthroat finishes.

3.3 Touge Showdown

Beyond casual runs, Touge Showdown hosts high-stakes tournaments on legendary mountain passes. It's Japanese car culture distilled into one intense racing mode.

3.4 Seamless Open-World Activities

Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets with synced traffic lights, and Car Meets are now integrated directly into the open world. No waiting in lobbies or matchmaking screens—just drive, meet, and race as you explore.

4. Social & Collaborative Features

4.1 Horizon CoLab

Horizon CoLab is the next-level multiplayer EventLab. Build events, stunt courses, or custom structures together with friends in real-time anywhere in the world. Collaboration is instant—everyone sees updates live, making creativity a shared experience.

4.2 Co-op LINK Skills

Multiplayer progression gets social. By performing cooperative actions—like drafting, convoy races, or helping friends in challenges—you earn unique LINK skills that improve your driving abilities or unlock cosmetic rewards. Teamwork pays off directly.

4.3 Customizable Garages & Estates

While building your personal garage or estate is solo, friends can visit and explore. Show off rare cars, trophy collections, or custom estates in an interactive environment. It's social bragging done right.

5. Multiplayer Q&A

Q: What new social features are available in Forza Horizon 6?

Japan is world-renowned for its iconic car meets, like Daikoku; and inspired by these experiences, Forza Horizon 6 sees the return of shared Car Meets in the open world. Not only is this highly requested feature coming back, but it has also been enhanced for this game – see additional details on that below.

There's also more to do in the open world than ever before, with new shared experiences including new co-op LINK skills earnable with other players, Drag Meets and Horizon Time Attack Circuits.

These are seamlessly part of the open world, with no loads, no matchmaking. They create a truly social experience for you and your friends, and they even feature an in-world leaderboard.

Q: How do the new cooperative LINK Skills work in Forza Horizon 6?

Our Skills System is always rewarding, whether drifting, getting big air, or banking incredible skill chains, and now you can earn these skills together.

Our new LINK Skills feature rewards you if you bank a skill at the same time as another player – so whether you're tandem drifting or you've choreographed a 12-player Barrell Roll, you’ll be rewarded for doing so.

LINK Skills are the most frictionless way to play with other Horizon drivers as you explore Japan together.

Q: What’s new with Car Meets in Forza Horizon 6?

In Forza Horizon 6, Car Meets are now integrated into the Shared Open World. This means that you can drive past a Car Meet and see real live players and join them instantly without any loading screens to slow you down.

Car Meets are places where you can show off your cars, download tunes and liveries that have been shared, and even buy a stock version of the incredible cars that you see from the Autoshow. Each player’s character, featuring their personalized look and clothing selections, will also be standing beside their car, and you can enter a first-person camera on a car-by-car basis to get a closer look at each vehicle on display.

Car Meets are also a great opportunity to meet new friends and start a Convoy, so you can head out together and explore Japan, where you'll find classic events, like Street Races and new Touge Battles – iconic night-time races down Japanese mountain passes.

Q: Which Car Meet locations are in Forza Horizon 6?

There will be three Car Meet locations scattered throughout Japan, including the Horizon Festival Site, the Okuibuki Parking Lot located high up in the alpine, and of course, we have Daikoku – an iconic car meetup in Tokyo City inspired by the real-world location. That’s not all; we’ll also be adding new temporary Car Meets throughout our Live Program on the Festival Playlist.

Q: What can we expect from Drag Meets in Forza Horizon 6?

Drag Meets are a new Shared World feature where you test your car’s performance across multiple, varied Drag Strips. At launch there will be 3 Drag Strips: the Festival Site 1K, the Irokawa Space Center ¼ Mile, and the Airfield 1/2 Mile.

To start a Drag Meet, simply drive to a start grid and "ready up." Then, wait for the green light and floor it! Drag Meet tree lights are synchronized for every player, so you can all take off together. Yes – we heard you – synchronized tree lights are back!

Each Drag Meet can host up to 12 players, and like Time Attack, there is no matchmaking and loading screens, so the entire experience is seamless.

Drag Meets also support new Convoy Leaderboards and weekly in-world Leaderboards too, so be sure to upgrade your car for fast acceleration and high speeds.

Q: What can we expect from Time Attack Circuits in Forza Horizon 6?

Time Attack challenges you to set the fastest lap time across multiple circuits in the Shared World. Think of it a bit like Shared World Rivals.

Time Attack takes place across multiple grassroots circuits, from high-speed road circuits to thrilling offroad adventure parks; each one offers a unique challenge – there's even one on Legend Island!

To start one, simply drive through the gantry and away you go. There are no loading times, no instance out; everything takes place within the Shared World. Your next objective is simple: set the fastest lap time possible.

When you set your first lap time, you lock in your ‘Current Best’ – that’s your time to beat! In Time Attack, you seamlessly hot lap as many times as you like, and for every lap you complete, you’ll earn Credits and XP along the way. You'll also see your time-splits throughout the circuit.

Q: How do the Leaderboards work for Time Attack Circuits?

We believe that Horizon is better together, and Time Attack is no exception. Time Attack Circuits will allow you to compete with your friends in real-time on the new Convoy Leaderboard, which shows your Convoy's current best lap times on the circuit. Simply invite them to a Convoy and away you go.

Remember, this is all in the Shared World. Players can turn up in any car they like... so you never quite know who’ll show up.

Every Time Attack Circuit is accompanied by an in-world Leaderboard, which shows the best times across the globe. These Leaderboards show your best time at your car’s current PI level, your next rival, and the global top 3 across the community. These Leaderboards reset each season, creating a brand-new weekly routine at the Horizon Festival and a reason to return to the circuit every week, where you can get your name up in lights.

Q: What other Leaderboards does Forza Horizon 6 include?

In addition to the new Convoy Leaderboards and in-world Leaderboard for our Shared Open World features, there will also be classic Leaderboards for PR Stunts and Rivals as before. What’s more, all Leaderboards can now be filtered by PI class, and while Time Attack Circuit and Drag Meet Leaderboards reset weekly, all other Leaderboards in the game are permanent.

Q: What Multiplayer game modes are available in Forza Horizon 6?

Forza Horizon 6 features the Horizon Multiplayer modes you know and love including The Eliminator and nailbiting Hide & Seek, as well as new Spec Racing Championships.
