Forza Horizon 6 is set to launch on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 release scheduled for later in the year. The game takes the Horizon Festival to Japan, featuring the series' largest and most vertically dense map to date.

Forza Horizon 6 Horizon Festival

Welcome to the Horizon Festival

In Forza Horizon 6, you will explore a vast campaign of discovery and Festival racing, playable solo and in co-op with your friends. You’ll start as a tourist and must prove you’ve got what it takes to join the Horizon Festival as a rookie driver, all while you Discover Japan and complete your Collection Journal. Qualify for the Festival in the Horizon Invitational, then rise through the ranks in progressively faster cars and earn new Wristbands to become a Horizon Legend. Your newfound status will grant you access to Legend Island, an exclusive space reserved for the greatest drivers.

The Horizon Festival in Japan

The festival experience in this installment shifts away from starting as a superstar. Instead, you begin as a tourist and must earn your way into the event.

  • Progression System: Players must complete "Horizon Qualifiers" to join the festival as a rookie. By racing and leveling up, you earn different colored wristbands, culminating in a gold wristband that grants access to Legend Island, an exclusive late-game region.
  • Tokyo City: The game features a massive representation of Tokyo, roughly five times the size of any previous Horizon urban area. It is divided into four distinct districts: the suburbs, dockyards, industrial zones, and a neon-lit downtown area including Shibuya and Akihabara.
  • Festival Events:
    • Horizon Rush: A new event type focusing on skills and obstacle courses, often located in complex areas like the Tokyo City Docks.
    • Touge Battles: Iconic night-time mountain pass races that celebrate Japanese drift culture.
    • Seasonal Festivals: Specific in-game celebrations tied to real-life Japanese traditions, such as a Carp Festival in spring and a Lantern Festival in autumn.

Social and Customization Features

The "Festival of Car Culture" introduces new ways to interact with the community:

  • Seamless Meetups: Car Meets (including an inspired Daikoku site), Time Attack Circuits, and Drag Meets are integrated directly into the open world without loading screens or matchmaking.
  • Customizable Garages & Estates: For the first time, players can decorate their own garages to showcase their collection or build permanent structures in an open-world "Estate" valley.
  • Horizon CoLab: Brings multiplayer building to the EventLab, allowing up to 12 players to construct custom routes and objects together in the open world.

As Forza Horizon 6 makes its way to Japan with a vast and vertically dense map, players will enjoy an immersive experience of the Horizon Festival like never before. From starting as a tourist to earning your way into the exclusive Legend Island, the game's progression system offers a thrilling challenge. The addition of events like Horizon Rush and Touge Battles, alongside customizable garages and seamless community interactions, makes this the most dynamic Horizon experience yet. Whether you’re competing in iconic city races or building in Horizon CoLab with friends, the festival is packed with endless opportunities for excitement.

Q: What’s new in the Forza Horizon 6 campaign?

The Horizon Festival is a celebration of beautiful cars, iconic music and breathtaking locations around the world.

In Forza Horizon 6, you will explore a vast campaign of discovery and Festival racing, playable solo and in co-op with your friends. When you first arrive in Japan, you don’t start as a Superstar of the Festival, or a racing champion. Nor do you start as a rookie. Instead, you’ll start out as just a tourist.

Forza Horizon 6’s campaign is focused on your journey and building a name for yourself. Along the way, you will meet the Legends of the Horizon Festival and experience authentic stories rooted in Japan’s legendary car culture.

Your first goal is to join the Horizon Festival, and you can do this by completing the Horizon Qualifiers. After that, you'll rise through the ranks, unlocking Wristbands as you complete races and events in faster and more exciting cars.

At the end of each Round, you must prove you're ready to move up by completing spectacular events to unlock your next Wristband. These include classic Horizon Showcases, and new Horizon Rush events where you show off your skills on thrilling obstacle courses, featuring exciting locations such as Tokyo City Docks.

When you finally earn your Gold Wristband, you will receive an invite to access Legend Island – an exclusive region of the world, with unique events, tracks and areas to explore. And once you make it there, it will be a true accomplishment, one that reflects your skills and determination.

Throughout that journey, all of Japan except for the Legend Island is yours to explore at your own pace. Exploration is at the heart of Forza Horizon 6, and everything you find on your road trip in Japan is something for you to collect: cars, houses, landmarks, mascots, and more – it’s all tracked in your Collection Journal.

Q: Can I replay Festival Events using any car in my garage?

After a Festival Event with car restrictions has been completed for the first time, the Race Customizer will be unlocked for that specific event. In the event setup menu, you can adjust the number of Drivatars (up to 11), season, weather, time of day, time progression, number of laps, Rewind availability, camera lock, and traffic. By default, the Race Customizer will select a Car Theme that matches your current car, and there are also several other Car Themes to choose from, including pre-made classes and type-based restrictions. If you prefer, you can even pick each individual car that is permitted for the event.

If you’re playing with friends and set up an event as the Convoy leader, the rest of the Convoy will join you and play that event the same way you shaped it.
