Aion 2: How To Fix The Gate Bug During The Forgotten Commander Quest Line

If you've been grinding your way through Aion 2 and finally hit the "Forgotten Commander" Heroic quest, you were probably excited to dive into the instance and grab some solid loot. Instead, you likely found yourself standing in front of a massive gate or dungeon portal, furiously mashing the F key, while absolutely nothing happened.

You aren't alone. This specific gate bug has been a massive roadblock for tons of players lately, completely stalling their quest progression. The game doesn't give you an error message or tell you why it's locking you out—it just ignores you.

Fortunately, it's usually not a permanent glitch, just a classic case of hidden requirements or an instanced script getting confused. Here are a few player-tested fixes to get that gate to open so you can finally get back to the game.

Aion 2: How To Fix The Gate Bug During The Forgotten Commander Quest Line

1. Check Your Gear Score

This is the sneakiest culprit. Aion 2 has some pretty strict gear score boundaries for its Heroic content. If your character's gear score is even a tiny bit under the minimum recommended level for the zone, the game will automatically lock you out of the portal. It won't give you a warning; the interact button simply stops working. Double-check your character sheet, and if you are running a little low, swap in some higher-level pieces or upgrade your current gear to see if the portal wakes up.

If your gear score is the only thing standing between you and the other side of that gate, don’t let the grind slow you down. The quickest way to smash through those strict requirements is to head over to U4N to buy Aion 2 items, letting you instantly upgrade your gear, boost your score, and get right back into the action without wasting hours on mindless farming.

2. Clear Your Regional (Green) Quests

Sometimes the main story won't let you advance because of a backend story "flag." If you have open green regional quests or unfinished episode requirements sitting in your quest journal (hit J to check), go clear those out first. The game often requires certain minor world events to be fully completed before it triggers the script to let you into a major Heroic instance.

3. Abandon and Re-acquire the Quest

If your gear is fine and your journal is clean, the quest script itself might just be bugged out. The quickest way to reset it is to open your quest log, abandon the "Forgotten Commander" quest entirely, and walk back to the starting NPC to pick it up again. This forces the game to reload the instanced gate script from scratch, which usually fixes the interaction prompt.

4. Leave Your Party

This is a solo-heavy instance, and Aion 2 can get incredibly weird about party status. If you are in a temporary matchmaking queue, a random group, or even a party where you are the only active member online, leave the group completely. Try interacting with the gate while entirely solo, as being grouped up frequently breaks the entry requirements for solo Heroic gates.

One of these steps should get you past the wall. If you've tried all four and the gate is still giving you the silent treatment, it might be time to drop a quick ticket to support, but usually, a quick party drop or a quest abandon does the trick. Good luck with the Commander!

Besides the hidden progression requirements and gear caps, there is another highly specific reason Aion 2 players get completely locked out of interacting with the "Forgotten Commander" dungeon gate: anti-cheat false positives caused by external hardware and macro detection.

Since Aion 2 handles its dungeon gating through private server instances, its invasive anti-cheat system aggressively monitors player inputs right when you approach portal triggers. Players tracking this issue on forums have uncovered two major hidden culprits that will instantly break your F interact prompt:

  • The Controller Support Conflict: Aion 2 features native controller compatibility, but its anti-cheat system frequently flags external controller mappers or virtual gamepad drivers (like DS4Windows or reWASD) as unauthorized third-party software. If the game detects these inputs background-running when you approach a Heroic gate, it quietly revokes your ability to interact with objects. Unplugging your controller and closing any mapping software completely resolves this.
  • Active Keyboard/Mouse Macros: If you have active combat macros assigned to your mouse or keyboard software (like Logitech G Hub or Razer Synapse) to loop your skill rotations, the game's anti-cheat will often shadow-lock your interaction keys at dungeon entry points to prevent botting entry. Turning off your hardware macros before walking up to the portal forces the game to register your keystrokes normally again.

If you have already verified your gear score and cleared your regional log, try a quick File Scan/Repair directly under the play button in the game launcher. This clears any local corrupted UI cache files that fail to sync up with the server's instance triggers, giving you a completely clean slate to enter the zone.
