PoE 3.28: Introduced Exceptional Support Gems, a new and improved version of Awakened Support Gems, which are being phased out. There are over 40 Exceptional Support Gems, which can be found in the Endgame.

Greater Spell Cascade Support

Greater Spell Cascade Support is an Exceptional Support Gem. Tag: Exceptional, Support, AoE, Spell. Level: 3 (Max). Cost & Reservation Multiplier: 140%. Requires Level 76, 120 Int Supports spell skills that apply an effect to an area around a targeted location. Cannot support Vaal skills or skills used by totems, traps, or mines. Cannot modify the skills of minions. Supported Skills have 24% less Area of Effect Supported Skills deal 24% less Damage Supported Area of Effect Skills also affect areas in front of, behind, and on each side of the targeted area Flavour Text: The echoes of lost loved ones surrounded her, maddeningly close, but forever out of reach. This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.

• Bosses within the Atlas can drop Astrolabes and Exceptional Support Gems

This Voidstone allows new Exceptional Support Gems to drop from many bosses across the Atlas.

The Labyrinth Gem craft

• The Labyrinth Gem craft outcome to exchange a Support Gem for its Awakened version has been removed.
• The Labyrinth Gem craft outcome to exchange a Support Gem for a random Exceptional Support Gem, instead now states you will receive a random Empower, Enlighten or Enhance Support Gem.

Bestiary

• The Beastcrafting recipe to increase the level of non-Corrupted Awakened Gem by 1 now adds 500m Experience to an Exceptional Support Gem.
• The Beastcrafting recipe to Reroll an Awakened Support Gem now sacrifices an Exceptional Support Gem for 3 high Level, high Quality Support Gems.
