How to Create Realistic Regional Kanji Plates in Forza Horizon 6

In Forza Horizon 6, set in Japan, the in-game license plates are somewhat limited. The default Japanese plates only allow a small subset of characters, and the top portion always displays “日本” (Japan). This can feel restrictive if you want real Japanese regional Kanji, like 品川 (Shinagawa) or 豊橋 (Toyohashi).

While the default plate editor gives 8 text slots, it only supports a limited set of Hiragana/Kana characters. Popular mappings from the community include:

  • ゆめ (yume) — Dream
  • みち (michi) — Road / Path
  • みなと (minato) — Harbor / Port
  • せつな (setsuna) — Moment / Instant
  • まち (machi) — Town

These are nice for thematic touches but won't let you replicate authentic regional Kanji.

How to Make Realistic Kanji Plates

To get authentic Kanji and proper fonts, you need to go beyond the standard text tool and use the Livery / Vinyl Group Editor. Here's how:

  1. Open the Vinyl Editor
Go to your Garage → Designs & Liveries → Vinyl Group Editor.
  2. Remove the Default Plate
Unequip the default license plate to give yourself a clean canvas.
  3. Build Kanji with Shapes
Since you can't type the Kanji directly, recreate the characters manually. Use basic vinyl shapes (lines, curves, squares) to assemble each Kanji, e.g., 富士山 (Fujisan) or 練馬 (Nerima). It takes patience but allows perfect replication.
  4. Apply to Your Vehicle
Position your custom vinyl plate where the real license plate goes, usually on the bumper.
  5. Use Community Creations
If building from scratch feels too time-consuming, check the Design Browser. Search for keywords like "JDM Plate", "Shinagawa", or "Japan Font". Many players share accurate Kanji vinyl groups ready to apply.

For players who want to expand their collection while keeping their garage authentic and fully Japanese-themed, marketplaces like U4N make it easy to buy Forza Horizon 6 cars online, giving instant access to rare vehicles, exclusive editions, and community‑crafted designs so you can pair your realistic Kanji plates with the perfect ride.

Watch Out for Censor Flags

Forza Horizon 6 has a strict global moderation filter. Some number combinations, like 86 (a nod to the AE86) or 88, are often flagged. Stick to safe words and Kanji that won't be mistaken for banned content or offensive slang.
